Namitha first gained popularity when she participated in a local beauty contest. When she was 17 year old Namitha tried for Miss Surat beauty contest and she won the title in 1998. 3 years later she tried for Miss India contest but she lost the title to the beautiful Celina Jaitley and ended up on the fourth place. However this opened new doors for Namitha and she became brand ambassador of several products and also did a TV ads for lots of beauty and health products.
